Flying kites is a fantastic way to spend family time. A picnic at the park with a light breeze and a kite is almost like something you'd see on a movie.

You can find kites at about any dollar store or you can go to sporting stores and find fancy ones with more than one string. The multiple strings allow you to control the path of the kite as it is flying, so you can swoop down to the ground and shoot back up again.

I found a site a few years ago that shows how to make 25 flying kites. Some require more wind than others, some also require a bit more work. How to Make Kites is a great site if you want to build your own.

Kite Flying 101 is available from intothewind.com. It explains how to inspect, launch, and fly your kites safely.

Below are a few links with kite building instructions and also a few links where you can buy kites.
