Though writing and sending thank you notes takes a bit of time and thought, you'll never know how thankful the recipient may be for such a simple act.

Start with the Thank You notes. You can buy boxes of premade cards that already say 'Thank You' on the cover for pretty cheap, or you can just make or print out your own.

Have children think of someone they are thankful for; teachers, neighbors, church leaders, uncles, aunts, grandparents, mom or dad, or even one of their brothers or sisters.

The notes don't have to be long. Even 'Thanks for being such a great teacher', 'Thank you for helping me with my homework', or 'Thanks for the yummy dinner' can make a big difference to the receiver.

When I was in college, I made it a goal to send at least one 'Thank You' letter per week, though I sometimes didn't get them sent that often. Even though I didn't get many replies, I at least knew that they were aware of the difference they made for me.

Sometimes it's really fun to make your own. With cardstock, glue, glitter, scissors, construction paper, and colored pens you can make about anything :)
